An Overview of Macro-Mobility Management in Next Generation All-IP Based Wireless Network Infrastructures
Next generation wireless systems are most likely to have an IP based core network. Mobile IP is a proposed standard of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) designed to assist different mobile users. Mobile IP provides an elegant solution for node mobility when the mobile node infrequently moves. However, it implies a relatively large overhead and delay, due to indirect communications. In ...
متن کاملMobility Management in Next Generation Wireless Systems
This paper describes current and proposed protocols for mobility management for public land mobile network (PLMN)-based networks, mobile Internet protocol (IP), wireless asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), and satellite networks. The integration of these networks will be discussed in the context of the next evolutionary step of wireless communication networks. First, a review is provided of locat...
متن کاملMobility management techniques for the next generation wireless networks
The tremendous demands from social market are pushing the booming development of mobile communications faster than ever before, leading to plenty of new advanced techniques emerging. With the converging of mobile and wireless communications with Internet services, the boundary between mobile personal telecommunications and wireless computer networks is disappearing. Wireless networks of the nex...
متن کاملSeamless Multimedia Services Over All-IP Based Infrastructures: The EVOLUTE Approach
The increasing amount of roaming Internet users in combination with the evolution of IP-based applications has created a strong demand for wide-area, broadband access to a number of IP multimedia services. Wireless LANs can complement the next-generation cellular networks, by offering a cost-efficient, wireless broadband data solution for hot spot areas. By combining the wide coverage of next-g...
متن کاملEmerging Standards for Mobility Management in Next-Generation All-IP Networks
With the rapid growth of mobile users and bandwidthrich applications, demands for higher capacity in the wireless networks are becoming more pronounced, and these ever increasing demands are driving the evolution of radio access technologies at a faster pace than ever before. Towards future mobile networks, voice and data services are converging and the existing mobile networks are facing the c...
